The Black Mountain Sheep

The Black Mountain Sheep

The Black Mountain Sheep is an enchanting story of strange happenings told by a proper Dragon who exists in a remote Welsh Valley. He considers himself to be the keeper of the Black Mountains and watches over his lovely place and all who dwell there. Caroline Downey describes in words and pictures a quirky tale suitable for age eight to adults and is especially enjoyed when read aloud to any age group. She was inspired to write this story when the sheep near her home were removed from the mountains at the time of the Foot and Mouth crisis. However it is a tale of hope and regeneration told with lively dialogue portraying the colourful characters residing in this peculiar place offering an escape into nostalgic and simple rustic living fused with a flicker of fantasy. The story is illustrated throughout by the charming paintings of award-winner Caroline Downey who won first prize in the worldwide Daler-Rowney 'Image and Story' Competition. Prints from this book are available, which is the first in her series of 'Proper Dragon Tales.' Along with her unconventional style and off beat humour Caroline blends her words and pictures to create a magical atmosphere that draws you into the pages.
